"Some refer to it as "small town": it's not urban folk and it's not country, but maybe somewhere in between...It's taken me a concerted 10 years to find this music. With that in mind I hope you enjoy it. I first went looking in classical piano traditions, then ancient and contemporary church traditions, a little bit of vocal jazz, definitely a lot of 70's folk, and then in a world music degree where I learned to play the accordion-which changed the course of my life forever. Because of my beautiful accordion, Scarlet, I found myself playing music with people whom I considered to be the best song-writers in Vancouver, and who happen to be my personal favorites the world over. Meanwhile I was traveling and living in fun countries and living in my van (no Jewel here, I spent 5 years in my lovely van, "Bets", West-Coast Canadian winters and all) until my furnace broke. But she held out long enough until I released my first CD December of 2006. This album chronicles some of these journeys (I can't believe I just used the word journeys...) and some of the amazing friends that inspired me to take these roads."
