Juan de Marias
Juan started his musical studies as a classical guitarist in Barcelona,
Spain, and shortly after began the study of flamenco guitar with some
of the great masters in Andalucia, Spain.
As a genuine flamenco guitarist, Juan has worked as both soloist and
accompanist for numerous singers and dancers. He has been performing
for over 20 years in Spain, England, United States, South America and
he is well known in the local flamenco circles.
Opening from 7:30-8:30 is Mazyar
Born in 1973, Mazyar Emami showed passion for music in
childhood. He started pursuing music seriously when he was 19. He studied music
theory and guitar techniques under the supervision of renowned guitar composer
and performer Behzad Mirkhani. Later he
studied Music Harmony, Musical Forms, and Counter-point with Prof. Dr. Mehran
Rohani PGRCM during a three year period. In 1999 he participated in the master
class of guitar held by French professor Florian Conil and received the
corresponding achievement diploma. He has been teaching and composing pieces for the guitar
since 1996 and has been performing in several public and private events and
recitals. Mazyar is currently living in North Vancouver and enjoys teaching and
performing a variety of Latin, Flamenco, Rock, Pop and Folk music.
